Much Ado About Nothing

February was great, mainly because we had a week off from school to celebrate the birthdays of Presidents Lincoln and Washington, which we did with opulence and vivaciousness, naturally.

The celebrations began with Wing Tai takeout and a mock slumber party with cousin Avery.

Jack continued his love for all things kitchen by helping me to make chocolate chip pumpkin bread.

 Snuggling and watching a movie

Playing restaurant, Claire's new favorite activity.  She writes down my order, and then makes it for me.  This was a very fancy sandwich, obviously.

Helping to make some fancy mac and cheese with a homemade bechamel sauce, fontina, asiago, parmesan, and asparagus.  Jack's officially becoming a foodie!

Baking chocolate chip cookies.  I'm not kidding, this kid loves the kitchen!

Note the bump on the forehead.  That would be the result of slipping on the front entryway rug (the very same one that sent us to the ER with Claire) and face-planting on the bottom step.  It actually looks better here than it did at first!

So there you have it, February break and the end of the month, in a nutshell.  Can I please mention again how OVER winter we are?  Yesterday it was 40 out and most of the snow had melted.  We're currently under a storm warning until 1am with accumulations expected between 6-12 inches.  It's 16 out.  We've completely run out of fun things to do and are just barely hanging on until it gets nice out.  Hence the boring blog posts today.

The Love(s) of My Life

In uploading pictures from the entire month of February today I realized that I never wrote about our Valentine's Day.  We stayed in, made heart-shaped waffles, smoothies, and chocolate-covered strawberries for dinner, and we gave Claire and Jack each a new book.  Nothing exciting!

Claire and Jack made Valentines that we sent to some special people

Claire was very excited to make the chocolate-covered strawberries!

Much love!
